Lake Elementaita

A serene soda lake in the Great Rift Valley, known for its birdlife.

Lake Elementaita is a soda lake, in the Great Rift Valley, about 120 km northwest of Nairobi, Kenya. It is a UNESCO world heritage site, together with Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria. The lake is a protected area due to its birdlife fame and is also a Ramsar site. Large flocks of flamingos, both the greater and lesser varieties, are found here.
